A native of Terrebonne Parish, Joseph L. Waitz, III focuses his practice on personal injury law. Joseph graduated with a degree in Business Management from Nicholls State University in 2009 before earning his Juris Doctorate from Southern University Law Center in 2014. He is a past president of the Terrebonne Parish Bar Association and has recovered millions of dollars for clients since he joined the Waitz & Downer team in 2014.
Growing up among Terrebonne Parish’s waterways, Joseph has developed an extensive background in Louisiana’s offshore marine industry. Prior to his legal studies, he spent four years as a deputy for the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Water Patrol Division conducting search and rescue operations. He also completed Sea School maritime training and subsequently earned a 100 Master Captains certification.

When he is not practicing law, he likes to spend time with his family and in the outdoors, whether hunting, fishing, or playing golf.
